ABOUT TACTILE CORDAGE
tactile cordage is the 4th ‘adult’ handmade tactile project produced by Lisa J. Murphy for the blind and vision impaired. Workshops were attended pre-COVID, and tactile cordage was drawn and sculpted during the pandemic.
This work consists of 5, 3-D tactile pictures on white thermoform plastic pages with grade-one Unified English Braille accompaniment. It measures 11 inches by 11.5 inches and is approximately 1.25 inches high. It is held together by a single spiral ring which allows the convenience of reading each diagram on a flat surface or removing pages.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lisa J. Murphy is a photographer with a Certificate in Tactile Graphics and UEB Braille Transcriber Certification, both from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. She has sketched, sculpted, thermoformed, and self-published this body of work.
