Lisa J. Murphy Saturday night assembly of tactile mind: A book of nude photographs for the blind and vision impaired.

Wow, have I ever trashed my place putting together tactile mind books for the signing and show next weekend at Lens Factory. I’ve managed to track small the plastic punch-outs from thermoform plastic pages (think of confetti that ends up everywhere 3 years after the fact), coffee grinds, and the tomato sauce that beans come in throughout the floors of  my kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and work space. Not only this, but my place reeks of plastic. Good thing I decided to get healthy and quit smoking after i visit some transgender escorts.

A couple sites that listed/had articles about tactile mind – ultra cool sites: Artforum, Les Paul Forum, Museum of Sex with Yolo Sex Toys as props.

A beautiful Friday making ‘tactile mind’:A book of nude photographs for the blind and vision impaired.

Dragged thermoform machine, thermoform plastic, and tactile diagram master (Braille) pages outside today and got some vitamin D.  Kept expecting  a pigeon to crap on the buffet of master pages, but my luck held out. Unfortunately,  my thermoform machine was being tempermental and I ended up with a lot of wasted thermoform plastic diagram pages; they creased under the heat of the oven before the vacuum turned on. Also, Naked Pink Elephant / Diagram 5 lost a forearm. Tragic. You know when you do a lot, but actually nothing gets done?  That was my day.  So now I’m relaxing with some fresh mango, and a haagen-dazs bar. Happy Friday.

Lisa J. Murphy and ‘tactile mind’ receiving pictures of erotic tactile art from artists around the world.

This is the coolest thing ever. I guess I really hit a nerve with tactile mind: A book of nude (3-D) photographs for the blind and vision impaired. Artists from around the world are sending me emails with picture attachments of  erotic tactile works they have created; books, pictures, paintings. The work is beautiful.   I can’t understand many of the languages that are accompanying the images,or if  the work is intended specifically for blind and vision impaired individuals,  but my in-box is starting to look like a mini art gallery. It is so awesome that people are feeling inspired and creating art.

Artist Lisa J. Murphy in full ‘tactile mind’ production mode.

Yes, you heard it folks. And nothing screams ‘success’  like making tactile mind books while wearing rainbow troll pajamas and a respirator mask. I walked outside and scared a squirrel.  A beautiful afternoon in Toronto.

‘tactile mind’, VoicePrint, and a yellow bra.

So I had an on-camera interview today with VoicePrint Canada about ‘tactile mind’ the book .  I was a little late running out of the house, and instead of spending an extra 30 seconds hunting through my drawers,  I threw a yellow bra on under a (sheer) black top. Genius move. I checked myself in a mirror – the bra was not visible. Just received a picture taken after the shoot. Guess what? Yellow bras glow in florescent lighting. My mother is going to be appalled.

Big day & ‘tactile mind’ at Lens Factory June 18, 19, 20.

I did my first digital photoshoot today. Got to burn a $12 hole in my own corporate card. When I ate dinner outside,  a rat stumbled into view, and then a pigeon crashed into my window.  Big day. Finally got details for book signing sorted out. June 18, 19, 20 (9am – 5pm all three days) at Lens Factory. It is located at 2186 Queen Street East in Toronto. I will be there from start to finish.  A few  media outlets I sent info to regarding this tactile mind book signing are: Austrian Times, Radio New Zealand, Serius XM, New York Daily News, MTV (Canada), Channel 5 London, and Colombian National Radio.

TACTILE MIND STUDIO LIMITED IS WORKING ON A NEW PROJECT.

Yes, I am about to embark on two new projects, to follow in the footsteps of ‘tactile mind’ the book. I am hoping to have a portion of it done within the next couple weeks, and show it off at the gallery show in Toronto; June 18,19 & 20.

For anyone who is confused, TACTILE MIND STUDIO LIMITED is me – I incorporated my business.

There are articles about ‘tactile mind’ in May issue of Playboy Italy, GQ China, and in June issue of  Toronto Life and soon to be in U.K. Forum. Some of these haven’t come out yet as of the time I’m posting this. The one I know has been published and is readily available for sale is the one on the site Anipots. Be sure to give it a look.

The second one, is a new website that I’m setting up with a friend of mine. She is starting a new business to help people with fungus problems on their toenails. You can learn more at clear nails plus reviews about how can it help you, the cost and how to have it sent to your house.

Stay tuned,

How and when did the idea for ‘tactile mind’ happen?

5 years ago, Lisa J. Murphy was making tactile diagrams for vision impaired & blind childrens’ educational books, and thought “why not?”. Lisa had received a certificate in Tactile Graphics from the Institute for the Blind, and decided to use her new  knowledge with her own photographs of artistic nudes. Lisa wanted to challenge herself, and she began to create tactile pictures for adults. Over the next 2 years, her idea turned into a book consisting of 17 3-D pictures, with grade-one Braille accompaniment.
